My name is Elaine Dightam, and for most of my professional life I have been a Home Economics teacher. Still energetic, retirement allowed me to expand my lifelong interest in textiles, particularly antique and vintage items.
I have avoided the hassle and overhead of a "bricks and mortar store", and our presence in the Internet world allows me to supply a wide market. My husband, John, looks after the business side, and often claims to know nothing about textiles. In fact, he has picked up a surprising amount, but remains a stranger to ironing! Fortunately, he has a good knowledge of computers, which I tend to avoid. From choice, Aboyne specializes in table and bed linens, and we search wide and far to find quality pieces. We also have towels, curtains, yokes and collars, and cannot resist other related items and curiosities. Check these categories when you look at our catalog. We play endless "catch-up" with the photography, and apologize for not always having pictures of all our items. What you can rely on is our descriptions, which always mention any imperfections that we see. You can also trust our return policy, since we always want to ensure your entire satisfaction. As a footnote, Aboyne is a beautiful Scottish town on Royal Deeside, not far from Balmoral Castle. We used to live near there. Aboyne is also a small hamlet near our present home in beautiful Elora, Ontario … just "far enough" from Toronto! I hope you find something you like. If not, please try again in a week or two, since we are always adding new items. Thank you for visiting, and do feel free to contact me at any time. (Please note that we are usually CLOSED in January and February, and we catch up with the mail in March). |
